Trail-O Results

Temp O: A quick decision variant on Trail-O is just being developed. We were pleased to see newcomers trying it even though we were adrift from the Sprint. Apart from a slight hiccup in the timing of which most of it has now been corrected by Don Braggins (thank you Don) and members of the general public sitting on benches blocking the view of some kites everyone appeared to get something from the Temp-O and will hopefully try it again.

Trail O To try and integrate the Trail O into a full discipline of Orienteering we tried to integrate the event using the same car park and part of the same competition areas. In the past the Trail O areas have been separate and quite often a distance away. It worked especially on Day 2 being a short course and the starts and finishes being close together. It was different on day three with the course being a selection race for GB teams. The logistics of the car park, starts and finish being so far apart did not enable everyone who wished to compete do so.

Notes: At each of the 6 stations there were 4 decisions to make (controls) and the total time to make all those 4 decisions is recorded on the dibber before moving to the next position. If the decision is incorrect there is a time penalty of one minute. If a competitor double punches for one decision it is wrong and a penalty is given but it can be recognised as such and doesn't make the remainder incorrect. However if only three out of four decisions in the group are made it is not possible to know which one is missing so the competitior might end up with a time penalty for each decision in that group (indicated by the N/A cells).
